A Program of Events for the 500 Years
During the year of the five hundredth anniversary, the Municipality of Pavia, the Chamber of Commerce of Pavia and the Banca del Monte di Lombardia Foundation have created a rich program of events to remember the battle from a historical, cultural and tourist point of view. These events will offer a unique opportunity to discover and reflect on one of the most significant moments in European history, with a link between past and present that invites us to consider the analogies with contemporary geopolitical challenges.

February 24, 1525
During the Battle of Pavia, Charles V's army defeated Francis I's French forces, marking a turning point in the military, geopolitical and social history of Europe. This confrontation not only consolidated the dominion of the Habsburg Empire over the Italian peninsula, but also marked the transition from medieval warfare to modern warfare, with the emergence of new war techniques and a new military strategy.
